Shine the Light

Shine The Light Initiative is a non-profit organization founded by Winnipeg dentist, Brent Wong and his wife Wendy. STLi not only brings dental aid but medical aid, education and home building programs to impoverished communities. Since 2004 they have completed more than 40 missions trips around the world.

Dr Brent Wong is the owner and principal dentist of Shine Dental in Winnipeg Manitoba. He went on his first missions trip in 2004 to two countries in Africa: Mozambique and Zambia. His wife Wendy journeyed to New Zealand on her first missions trip and afterwards they both realized that they had a heart for mission’s work and wanted it to be a large part of their lives. They saw that other people also wanted to help but felt it was out of their reach. As a result, they started Shine The Light in 2005 to bridge the gap between the people who needed help and those that wanted to help.
