Let Stains and Discolored Teeth be a Thing of the Past!

SUMMARY - Teeth whitening can be one of the least expensive methods of cosmetic dentistry available. There are different methods so it can be a dramatic change in 1 visit to the office!

Aren't you thankful there are more effective ways to make your smile whiter and brighter? More and more people are choosing to brighten the look of their teeth because a confident smile can do more for your life perspective, attitude, and entire image than a brand new wardrobe or even a hot new car. It changes how people view you because it changes how you view yourself at the very core.

A few reasons teeth become discolored are age, diet, smoking, and even some medications, but no matter the reason, stained or discolored teeth can, over time, become socially debilitating. When you don't feel confident enough to let your smile shine, it can change how you face the world, and how the world perceives you in return, affecting everything from social gatherings to job interviews.

Are you completely satisfied with your teeth and smile? If so, then read no further. If, on the other hand, embarrassment due to discolored teeth has been holding you back, allow me to point you in the 'white' direction.

Over the Counter

I'm sure you've seen, or even purchased, over-the-counter teeth whitening products such as toothpastes or strips. Although these products are less expensive than a dental treatment and do brighten your teeth, it usually requires a lot of commitment by way of time and repetition to achieve the desired result, not to mention these methods are relatively short lived. In reality, there is no contest when choosing between over-the-counter and professional quality products. That's why dentists like me have researched this subject, not only discovering cutting-edge techniques to provide patients with brighter, more attractive teeth, but also providing cost-effective and less time-consuming alternatives.

With that in mind, allow me to explain how professional whitening treatment works. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Professional Quality

Bleaching is hard-hitting on stains but easy going on your teeth, and has a higher than 90% success rate. Plus, depending on your personal habits such as the use of tobacco products or the consumption of certain foods or drinks, the whitening effects can last up to five years after treatment!

As if that isn't motivation enough, we now have the ability to save you even more money by offering take home teeth whitening systems. You can still have the convenience of whitening your teeth in the comfort of your own home without losing the quality and power of a professional product. Just say, "I'll take mine to go, please!"

This is good news, so if you need to take a moment to do a 'happy' dance, don't let me stop you.

If you decide on the at-home method, we will use molds of your teeth to make custom-fit, yet flexible, trays to hold the bleaching gel easily and comfortably in your mouth. Only the materials provided by your dentist can be safely used. No over-the-counter materials should be used in combination. To explain this and other important details you 'll be given clear and helpful instructions that must be followed carefully. Remember, your treatment isn't complete until you're completely happy with the results. After that, your only responsibility is to smile. Your teeth will glisten, and you 'll glow with a whole new attitude!

Be aware that some types of discoloration respond better to different types of whitening materials. In these cases, we may advise one method over the other. Also, in your best interests, we may dissuade treatment if you have sensitive teeth, periodontal disease, depleted enamel, or if you're pregnant or breast-feeding.

Safe and Sound

Studies over the past several years have demonstrated bleaching to be both harmless and successful. By and large, the only by-product from treatment may be minor sensitivity to hot and cold food and drink, however this sensitivity usually diminishes within 48 hours. Both the Canadian and American Dental Associations' have given their stamp of support to a variety of teeth whitening products.
